It’s undeniable – this pandemic has been hard on all of us and it has affected us in many different ways; isolation, work-stress, financial stress, fear, anxiety, boredom, and domestic tension for starters. All of this at once can be overwhelming- it can lead us down a dark road and be very damaging to our mental health. That’s why it’s more imperative than ever that we take consistent steps to stay positive through all of this. I want to share with you 5 simple things you can do to keep a positive attitude even through the hardest of times.
#1 Before dozing off into your beauty sleep, pick one or two things you were grateful for that day. I like to spend some time focusing on these things to put that gratitude out into the universe so that energy can hopefully return back to me.
#2 Give yourself some end-of-day positive affirmations before you go to sleep. These are a few of my favorites: “I am proud of what I accomplished today” “I have the power to make tomorrow a great day” “I will use sleep to recharge myself for a productive tomorrow”

#3 Repeat a new positive affirmation when you wake up, “I choose to be happy and love myself today”, “I am a good mom”, “I will stay calm even in the midst of chaos”. Focus as you train your mind on these thoughts and dig into them like they are prayers.
#4 Wake up with plenty of time to get ready. Sometimes when we are running behind, our minds get scattered, we end up forgetting something, being late to work or school or anything that lets negativity take over and wrecks our attitude for the rest of the day. Giving yourself plenty of time to do your morning routine is so important to set you up for a successful day!
#5 Combine breathing, stretching and brief meditation with these for the ultimate positive day-starter! This is SO much easier than it sounds! For example; before you start getting ready, take a few minutes to open the blinds, look up at the sky, and then close your eyes and take some deep breaths. Slowly reach your arms up above you and fully lengthen your body – breathe – then slowly lower your arms down and hang your head and spine weightlessly between your legs – breathe – and repeat! As you do this, clear your head, focus on your positive affirmations and positive energy. Remind yourself, you have taken the time to center yourself in positivity, and that will pay dividends all day. You got this!!
